"Embarking on the Journey: Cruising to the Whitsundays with RMC in 2023"

The RMC Experience to the Whitsundays 2023 set off on an unforgettable adventure, bringing together a fleet of 6 Riviera vessels for the journey departing the Gold Coast Seaway on June 2nd, 2023.
As the fleet made its way northward through the Wide Bay Bar and rested for the night at Inskip Point, the fleet expanded to 8 vessels, where two more Riviera boats joined in, ready to explore further north.
Anchoring at Inskip Point, the group bid farewell to the day while being treated to a breathtaking sunset.

Day 2 dawned with a sense of adventure in the air. Cruising from their overnight anchorage at Inskip Point, the fleet ventured through the Sandy Straits, a picturesque waterway bordered by the stunning Fraser Island. Navigating through the Sheridan Flats, located inside Fraser Island, added a touch of excitement to the journey as the boats gracefully made their way through the shallow waters, revealing the hidden wonders of this pristine marine environment.

As the day progressed, the fleet arrived at Moon Point, anchoring up for the night after a joyous social raft-up; the owners had the opportunity to bond with fellow enthusiasts, sharing stories and experiences of their Riviera vessels. It was a time to relax and reflect on the beauty of the surroundings, appreciating the wonders of nature and the serenity of life on the water.

Wrapping up day 3 of the RMC Experience, the owners embraced the chance to enjoy a relaxed morning aboard their Riviera vessels. The breezy conditions on the western side of Fraser Island created a refreshing atmosphere, perfectly complemented by the gentle rocking of the boats.
Later in the day, the group gathered on the beach for an unforgettable experience. Drinks and a Beach BBQ were prepared as laughter and joy filled the atmosphere and engaged in lively conversations. The beach became a hub of connection and friendship as the group stood around a bonfire.

Amidst the festivities, the group bid farewell to Travis Cross, who had been an integral part of the journey, providing valuable local knowledge and working to ensure a memorable experience for all. A warm welcome was extended to Travis Edney, who would join to replace Cross for the remainder of the trip.

Day 4 of our RMC Whitsunday Experience began early as we continued our journey from Moon Point, Fraser Island, towards our next destination, Pancake Creek.

That evening, onboard one of the luxurious Riviera vessels, Ben Crawley showcased his culinary skills and prepared a mouthwatering meal. The enticing aroma spread, to our delight; even some of our guests couldn’t resist joining. Laughter filled the air as we savoured the delectable dish, making it a delightful and unforgettable evening.

Earlier in the afternoon, we took a moment to unwind and soak up the warm rays of the afternoon sun. We gathered onboard our boats with drinks, creating a relaxed and serene atmosphere.

The next venture the group encountered was making the passage to Rosslyn Bay, where vessels were re-fueled and re-stocked, then re-grouped together, meeting for dinner at The Waterline Restaurant located on-site at the marina, which offered a diverse menu featuring seafood, steak, and other culinary delights.

The following day an early start for day 7 saw the group making the passage from Keppel Bay Marina out to Middle Percy Island and the iconic A-Frame structure.
The A-Frame is a large, open-air structure resembling an A-shaped hut. It was originally built by passing sailors in the 1960s as a place to seek shelter and leave their mark. Over the years, visitors have decorated the walls and ceiling with various mementos, flags, and memorabilia.
After departing Middle Percy Island, our voyage took us through Keswick Island & St Bees Island to the next anchorage on the western side of Brampton Island.

Finally, as we set foot on the magnificent Whitehaven Beach the final afternoon exceeded all expectations. Our beach charity auction, run by the auctioneer Ben Crawley, turned out to be a resounding success, thanks to the unwavering support of our remarkable RMC members. Their tremendous generosity was evident as they eagerly raised their hands to contribute towards the noble cause. We are immensely grateful for your kindness and support. We are delighted to have extended our Riviera family with the addition of new friends. It has indeed been a fantastic journey!
